Why it’s important to keep your air-con in good working order

There are two times we need our air-con to be in the best working order, in the height of summer when it’s 30C outside and the car is actually the cooler place to be OR in the middle of winter when our windscreen is all foggy. There’s nothing worse than when either of these options are failed by your cars air conditioning. So here’s what you need to know to get back on your way.

It’s easier than you think to fix

Generally if hot air comes out instead of cool during summer, you’ll more than likely just need to regas. This is the process of removing the old gas and replacing it with a new refrigerant. This allows the cold air to get back into the system (much like your fridge!) Sometimes your issues can be because of breaks or leaks but generally a regas can fix most common issues.

How often should I regas my car?

Generally, most people wait until the air-conditioning breaks on you to fix it, like anything. However, it’s important to keep an eye on as the seasons can change in the blink of an eye which can result in dangerous circumstances. Whilst you could probably get through a hot summer, you don’t want to have to spend an hour in the parking lot on Friday winter’s night because you can’t clear your screen.

At Bodymek, Northampton, we can help regas the car to suit your cars requirements. We generally can provide this update to your car whilst you wait and our mechanics are trained to use the correct units to ensure the regulations are met. If you are unsure about what your air conditioning system requires – give us a call, we can help get you cool this summer and clear this winter!
